Zimbabwe’s representatives in the Total CAF Champions League FC Platinum are hoping to revive their faltering campaign when they meet Tunisian giants Etoile Sportive Du Sahel on Saturday at Barbourfields in Bulawayo.
Fc Platinum is winless at home in the group stages of the CAF Champions League this year having recorded two defeats and one draw in 3 matches.
“This game is very important for us because we have not won at home. Our home record at our Champions league designated home is very pathetic and we need to change that”, bellowed Jephias Ruhode, better known as Chirasha, a big fan of FC Platinum who travels every week from Masvingo to watch his Pure Platinum Play in action.
“We need to be dominant at home and fight for it with everything you have in a football way. In Africa, you need to win matches at home and get at the least a draw away if you are to progress”.
The Zimbabwean champions are fancying their chances against the continent’s heavyweight Etoile Sportive Du Sahel, who got off to a flyer edging out Egyptian giants Al Ahly by a goal to nil in Tunis.
Meanwhile, Sudanese journalist Tamir Tahir says Etoile Sportive Du Sahel is a well-organised team with lots of experience and FC Platinum should be at their best when they take on the North Africans.
Tahir further advises FC Platinum to be tactically disciplined as statistics show that Etoile is very dangerous in the first 15 and last 15 minutes.
” Etoile Sportive Du Sahel has scored 25 percent of their goals in the first quarter and 37.5 percent in the last quarter”, said Tahir.
